Sindabezi Island camp – The Jewel of the Upper Zambezi – is Tongabezi’s sister camp Sindabezi, a short canoe ride down stream, even more remote it provides the perfect tranquil resting place as the Zambezi river flows quietly by before it reaches the Victoria falls. The nights are lit by lanterns and candle light and the resident hippo and passing Elephants provide the evening entertainment.

Not only is it is the only African bush camp in the area, but the island is also the only bush camp that can be enjoyed exclusively as a private booking. Here, in our haven of natural tranquillity, you will truly experience the sights and sounds of the African bush. From Sindabezi, the flood plain of the mighty Zambezi and the views of the wildlife in the nearby National Park will capture your soul.

Sindabezi Island Camp Location

Sindabezi Island Camp can be used in conjunction with or independently from, Tongabezi Lodge or simply booked as an overnight or two from Victoria Falls. Sindabezi Island Camp is situated three km’s downstream from Tongabezi Lodge (towards the Victoria Falls). Magnificent views overlooking other islands and game on a nearby flood plain of the Victoria Falls National Park. Access is from Tongabezi Lodge only, by motorised banana boat (20 mins), or canoe (1 hour).

Sindabezi Island Camp Attractions

Sindabezi Island Camp is unique, being the only island Lodge on the Upper Zambezi River in the Victoria Falls area. The chance to experience elephant in your room, hippo on your doorstep, awake to the dawn chorus – possibly the best wildlife experience in the Victoria Falls region.

Sindabezi Island Camp Facilities

Four chalets. Eight guests. Groups of six or more can have exclusive use of the island. The three twin and one double (booked on request) chalets are built from local timber, reed and thatch – Each with spectacular private views over the Zambezi. All chalets have cold running water, hot bucket showers and flush loos with views. The island is fully staffed and all chalets have field phones for room service but have no electricity – only lamps and candles. NOTE: extra beds (triples) not available.
